Go to <http://web.msu.edu/vincent/general.html> and download the short speech from Anwar Sadat (Call for Everlasting Peace - 465k). It's about one minute long and should only take a few minutes to download. You should have no trouble hearing it because your browser should open the file without any problems after you haved saved it.
For those who may not know, Anwar Sadat was the president of Egypt when Egpyt and Israel signed a peace treaty in 1970. Sadly, shortly after this speech he was assassinated.
You will have one problem with this text. For Sadat English was a second language, so he spoke with a strong accent. Still, his English pronunciation is good enough for you to understand most of it I think.
This time I am asking you to answer just one question, but the question has a long answer! In this speech by Sadat, he is asking or encouraging the people of Israel and Egypt to do certain things.
I have made a list of AT LEAST SIX things that he is asking people to do. You may find more.
Send me back your answer in a voice file, or written in email.
QUESTION: WHAT IS SADAT ASKING THE PEOPLE
OF ISRAEL AND EGYPT TO DO? (GIVE AT LEAST 6 EXAMPLES IF YOU CAN, AND ANSWER
IN AS MUCH DETAIL AS POSSIBLE.)
I conduct my EFI classes in groups of five assignments. After this assignment I will ask you all if you wish to continue or not.
